Why Choose Ogawa Rope?

The Ogawa rope is widely regarded as one of the most iconic ropes in Japanese Shibari. Its exceptional flexibility allows practitioners to fully experience the qualities traditionally sought in Japanese rope.

Its fluid handling makes transitions easier and enhances artistic rope work. It is especially appreciated by practitioners seeking authentic sensations and a highly responsive rope.

For many enthusiasts, the Ogawa rope represents a direct connection to the heritage and tradition of Japanese Kinbaku.

About the Characteristic Odor

Like all industrial ropes produced by OGAWA, this rope contains JBO (Jute Batching Oil), which is used during the jute manufacturing process.

This may result in a characteristic odor, particularly noticeable when the rope is new. Our preparation process significantly reduces this odor before shipping.

With use, ventilation, and time, the odor gradually fades. Humidity may temporarily intensify it, which is completely normal.

Recommended Use

This 6 mm Ogawa rope is ideal for practitioners who wish to experience the feel of a genuine Japanese Shibari rope.

  • ✔ Floor ties
  • ✔ Technical practice
  • ✔ Artistic rope work
  • ✔ Bamboo suspensions
  • ✔ Intermediate and advanced practitioners

If you are looking for a flexible, responsive, and internationally respected Japanese rope, the Ogawa rope remains one of the most iconic choices available today.
